macOS Sequoia Local Network Access

hi Andy.
I think you get a message when you try to do something on the local network. IF you don’t do that, then you won’t get asked.
I see in my privacy & Security settings that Omnis Studio Now 11.2.38349 has this permission… but that is 5 version of omnis back in time for me as I’m now at Omnis Studio Now 11.2.39462
so… small deduction with this.
11.2.38349 is the last version of omnis that required the xcomp folder to be within the MacOS folder
all versions of Omnis since then have a revised application folder structure on the mac where:
the xcomps are in a new folder called plugins
firstRunInstall and everything else that was in the macOS folder is now in the 'Resources' folder
and the MacOS folder olds only one file 'omnis', which is the omnis executable and is the only thing affected by the _CodeSignature
This is a more strict following of apple’s guidelines on what goes into each folder.
and it makes initial startup of omnis faster since gatekeeper no longer need to check everything in that MacOS folder. Apple claims this is for your security.
that being said, I have had NO issues with accessing anything anywhere with omnis on latest versions of omnis and sequoia under the new structure … and it doesn’t show up in 'local network'
Of course, apple is not real clear on whats going on … In this note, an apple engineer alludes to not being able to access network due to incorrect signature on the app.
https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/762848
which I take that to imply if you added some xcomps and other executables to the older folder structure, you may be getting hit with gatekeeper and need to redo the code signature….
or maybe Omnis needs to bring forward studio 11.2 global release if gatekeeper turns out to be the problem and the revised folder structure appears to resolve it.
not sure if that helps you or not … but I do not have any issues at this current time with an M1 macbook pro, any version of Sequoia, the last 5 versions of Omnis Studio now (i.e 6 months) and all my xcomps in a separate directory structure).
things actually have been running very smooth and reliably. If you are stuck in the mud with xcomps and your current version of studio 11.1, you might ask if Omnis has a test build you can use…
it maybe reinstall your version of omnis (to a new name), and start it … to see if it gets added to the 'local network' part of security and preferences.
THEN add your xcomps and such.
