There is a $columnheadercolor property that you can set for each column per $currentcolumn, so maybe

For col from 1 to dgRef.$designcols
  Do dgRef.$currentcolumn.$assign(col)
  Do dgRef.$columnheadercolor.$assign(hdrColor)
End for
