OT: Browser won't work

Hello Listers,

Appreciate your input on this off topic matter.

AT&T has had an outage in our internet service over the last few days. 

I think our internet connection is back up. I mean on my iPad I am connected to it via wifi, and I am able to access websites on it.

But on my Mac email works, but the browser’s blue progress bar goes only a little across its span, and sits there, never showing the website being sought… the site will not load. I have tried many sites. 

Why would my iPad access sites but not my Mac is odd. 

Can you think of anything I can do to fix this?
