macOS privacy permissions and Omnis

Hi,

I looked into this a while back and while there are some utilities available from the terminal prompt to reset certain permissions I didn't find anything that allows one to set permissions via a script or otherwise. It seems the OS is basically hardwired to ask the user permission when an app first asks for access to a sensitive area. If you ever need to reset a permissions you'll need to use the tccutil program to do that in case the user clicks "No" when prompted for permission as the OS won't ask again once the users clicks "No." Be careful on what you reset as you can clear the whole database requiring the user to answer prompts again for all apps previously resolved.

If all of the Macs are within an organization or you have control of all of the Macs there are options available to manage these kinds of permissions. But they are really meant for an enterprise environment. Using Apple's Mobile Device Management toolset you can apparently manage some of these permissions. Reading a little more about this option it looks like you can have individual users get these kinds of policies by hitting a webpage, but I'm not sure that really gets you anything as you're going to then need to have the user go to a web page and agree to certain policies installed on their computer.

Kind regards,
