For every piece of development I do, I write a development log document
which contains all the details of what I do, what I learn and how the
area of the software that I am looking at works. So I create quite a
body of documentation as I go.
I have been thinking about what I can offer customers beyond the Omnis
development work and it occurred to me that my documentation skills are
valuable in their own right. Outside my development work, I am a keen
writer and have published several novels. I keep getting told that I am
a good writer. So maybe I should look to do more of that?
Does anyone have a need for technical writing or documentation? Perhaps
you would like a user guide created or updated? Perhaps you would like
to document how your application is put together? That might be
important for someone looking to sell their business and exit. It would
be a lot easier to sell a well documented piece of development to a new
business owner. Also, some quality standards and end user customers
require it.
Well it is just a thought! Please get in touch if I may be of assistance.
