hi $all.
There is a NEW release of the binaries for the ExcelFormat xcomp. It raises it to version 4.30 from version 3.90
You can download from https://www2.artsman.com/omnis/Software/Omnis-XL430.zip
NOTES:
The zip file contains various versions of ExcelFormat:
2.20 (studio 5: 32 bit)
3.72 (studio 6 & 8: 32 bit & 64 bit)
3.84 (studio 10: 32 bit and 64 bit)
3.88 (studio 8 & 10: 32 bit and 64 bit)
3.90 (studio 8 & 10: 32 bit and 64 bit)
3.94 (studio 8, 10, 11: 32 bit and 64 bit)
4.30 (studio 10.2 ,11: 64 bit only)
If you are already using ExcelFormat, DO NOT UPGRADE since you will likely need a new licence from LIBXL for it.
Only consider upgrading if
1) you have issues in with LIBXL that were fixed. you can read their release notes at: https://www.libxl.com/changelog.html
2) you need to move from a much older version of Studio to a newer version because you are upgrading Studio.
The licence to use/distribute ExcelFormat is free (as many machines as you want)
The licence to use the LIBXL library that EcxelFormat is based on is
— $199 USD per platform for NEW users
— $99 USD per platform for an UPGRADE. The upgrade entitles you to all changes from LIBXL for a year.
It is also unlimited distribution.
LIBXL is pretty stable. If you are using it, you might find yourself paying $99 x 2 (two platforms) every few years, making this capabilited really really inexpensive for what it does (and you don’t need excel on your machine).
What does the ExcelFormat xcomp do?
basically it lets you import or export any data you want from a LIST to an excel spreadsheet (xls or xlsx) without having excel on your machine at all.
Its is a simple command to export a list.
you also have command that let you iterate the spreadsheet and set formats, colours, text, column widths, row heights, and what have you in the spreadsheet.
you can set calculations in a cell (if you want)
you can import a spreadsheet with calculations in it and only get the result and not the calculation (if you want)
you can have multiple sheets in the spreadsheet.
its pretty versatile
Many thanks to Kelly Burgess who collaborates with Artsman and does the builds for us that we give away.
support is via the members of the list as those that use it use different features.
