hi Chris.

web site monitoring can mean a number of things.

uptime probes

we use nagios (free version) to send probes to all our customer’s web sites that can detect (for us):
which web sites are running
if they SSL is about to expire
if they are over loaded (based on response time)
if certain parts of our web services are up
what level of TLS is running
etc.



traffic analysis


we also use a tool that examines, in real time, the nagios or apache web logs and tells us a number of stats like
where visitors are from
what kind of browser they are using.
