Lack of default printer crashing omnis

Just wanted to follow up.

The issue I was having with the graphs was not a problem with the graphs at all. It came down to a bug in the Omnis SQL Bridge. I was testing it on a PostGres database. Changed back to a DML database and all worked as before.

Omnis has confirmed the issue with the SQL Bridge and will be making a fix.

Hi Jock and Scotte,

Jock scared me with the concern over Graph2. One of the things I had never thought to check on is the graphing performance in 10.2. Sure enough, there seems to be an issue. I wish we could show pictures here, but we have a Practice Performance window that graphs many different data points about the sales and profitability of the Vet Practice. Two of the graphs on this window are exploding toroid's and they do not seem to be working at all in 10.2.

I am going to follow up with support on this.

There are not a lot of changes in Graph2. You can use oBrowser with htmlcontrols to put graphs in with a lot more options than Graphs2. There was a recent technote on the Omnis website about it.

We've also implemented the D3JS library (d3js.org <http://d3js.org/>) in our application, but aren't ready to share the details yet. Some pretty cool stuff with interactive data visualizations.

The database connectivity isn't an issue as it's all Oracle and no DML. There may be some issues with some third party tools that we use but we can test those out. I do have concerns about graphs though. I tried to use Graph2, or whatever it was named, some time ago and there was some functionality that was missing so I couldn't. I'm sure 10.2 has even more changes.

In reality, it has been ready for most of that time since we eliminated any of the old code from Omnis7 concerning hash variables that are no longer supported in event handling. It really did not take all that long to that. So maybe you should consider just jumping up to 10.2. Of course, if you are non Unicode, you need to look at all your text editing and "REGIST / CALL statements you may be using as well. Most will require a little modification to work with the Unicode versions. But I think you would need to do this for any version past 4.3 anyway.

Can anybody tell me if this has been resolved in later versions? If so, what version eliminated that issue? Is there maybe a DLL that could be copied over to a prior version to stop this from happening?
