This is so so unfair.

Jerry was very special to me and I am devastated by his untimely passing. Between 1995 and the early 2000s we met and corresponded quite regularly and I brought Jerry out to Sydney Australia, where I live most of the time now, to speak at annual Omnis conferences. Jerry even stayed at my home with his first wife.

As Jerry moved away from Omnis, our interactions were less frequent until 2016 and we then reconnected.

Last year in May I attended our conference in Denver and of course Jerry was there and we had dinner together and I finally met the wonderful Tara. During this short trip, I became quite ill and you will not be at all surprised who came to my hotel several times to look after me. It was of course Jerry. Nothing was too much trouble and everything he did was with unbridled generosity and kindness. I did need his help too as I was really unwell.

That last hug as he dropped me at the train back to the airport will be with me forever.

I am not sure if I can be with you all for the memorial as I believe US Mountain time will equate to 3am Sydney time.

I miss my friend.

>> Jerry helped me to get my start in Omnis programming in the early 90s after moving to Denver to work for Chris McCall who shared an office with Jerry. The move was my first time living away from friends and family. Jerry and Chris took me under their wing and helped me to adjust to my new home. He became a big brother to me.

It was great to watch him in action. His energy was infectious. If anyone could give Steve Jobs a run for the money it was him.
