I found in Disk Utility that it did create a second volume named Data.. as was the case I’ve learned with Catalina, which I skipped..

But I cannot make this Data drive MOUNT.. I can’t see it or access it in any way.. what do I do?

I upgraded from Mojave to Big Sur yesterday.. and all seems fine except one thing…

I had a bunch of stuff on my “Macintosh HD” main and only hard drive.. internal 1 TB SSD drive..

And now it only has the main system stuff there along with Applications.. all other stuff is missing

There is no “relocated items” folder on the desktop.. there is no indication of where I can find those things

I have a backup.. from Mojave.. I suppose I could restore the items somehow..

I know that Catalina introduced a new way that the main drive works.. it’s off limits now sort of I know.. but shouldn’t it have saved my stuff somewhere?
