AW: Omnis won't launch correctly

Hi Das,

What operating system are you running? You are running Windows, and you seem to have your icons files in the ProgramFiles_x64 directory. A DF1 needs READ/WRITE access, and placing READ/WRITE files in the ProgramFiles_x64 directory is not such a good idea. Windows XP was the last operating system where we did this. Since then, we use the ** firstruninstall** structure in our Omnis RT installer. You place all RW files into this folder, and when Studio starts, it copies all files in this folder into your %LOCALAPPDATA% directory, which the user has full access to and where the messages you are getting are no longer relevant, as the user has appropriate rights to this folder to perform any conversion.

If you are using Windows XP, then your user will need elevated rights to run Omnis and open all of these locked RW files.

Regards

Rudolf Bargholz

I have a user who is getting the following messages upon trying to run Omnis 10.1 runtime.

Any ideas on what to do for someone like this? The bit with user pics is just not true.. other users being OK prove it.

The user is in Italy. Hence the localization bit…

Omnis studio needs to run studiorg.exe to install registry settings.
User Account Control will ask you to allow studiorg.exe to run.
Please allow it to run.

By clicking ok and allowing studiorg to access the second message is:

Omnis Studio

There was a problem opening the icon file C:\Program files(x86)\JyotishStudio\icons\userpics.df1.
Maybe it needs converting to the new format using the icon editor?

clicking ok the third message is the same as the second. New click and the message is:

Omnis Studio

Omnis could not read the localisation data from omnisloc.df1.
Using resources instead.
Error: Access to the file is not available.

New ok, the message is:

Access to C:\Program Files(x86)\JyotishStudio\startup\help.lbs is not avalaible

New ok, the messge is:

Access to C:\Program Files(x86)\JyotishStudio\startup\wss.lbs is not avalaible _____________________________________________________________
