Linux Server on cPanel

Hi Michael,
You can upload the nph-omniscgi in cPanel, and so long as you can put it in the "cgi-bin" folder and it's compiled for the version of Linux that you're using, you should be fine. I've done it for some of my clients. Sometimes it hasn't worked because it's the wrong version of Linux.
If you can upload nph-omnis cgi and put it in the cgi-bin folder and try to access it from the website without any settings eg http://www.website.whatever.com.au/cgi-bin/nph-omniscgi, you should get something like this:
> 400 Bad Request - OMNIS port not specified or invalid (Reported by OMNIS CGI program)
If you get that message, it means that it will work on your server. If you get gibberish, it means that it hasn't recognised it as an executable. If you get a "no response from the server" type message, it means that the web server tried to execute the cgi component, but it was for the wrong version of Linux and crashed.
You can get the cgi components by installing the Linux version of Omnis *somewhere*, so you can then get to the server components folder.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Paul.

I have an iPad app using the Omnis wrapper which connects to this local server to run on the Omnis Server with the Mobil Only license. I’ve got some clients who use this app, setting up their own Mac as their local server. It works well, but I’d like to put this server in a more "cloud-like" location. Maybe be able to configure the host for each of my clients instead of having them set up their own Omnis Server.

I’m not even sure what version of Linux it is running on. The Omnis Install.txt document tells me to run the Omnis Studio Linux installer but I don’t know how that is even possible since I don’t really have control of the computer.
