Even with $root.$prefs.$exportbom set to kFalse

(Do $root.$prefs.$exportbom.$assign(kFalse))

the file has a BOM when opened in BBEdit.

Perhaps this property doesn't govern $writecharacter but other methods ?

Even when I convert the text with uniconv, setting the Bom parameter to kFalse, I obtain a file with a BOM !
