oBrowser -- Is there a demand for this?

hi list,

I have by necessity been moving steadily away from mac and windows,
especially mac, after having used macs since 1984 and omnis since 1985.

When apple stopped focusing on user value and shifted to shareholder value
(koff, TIM COOK, koff koff), they lost their way.

Getting burned by a $2700 2011 MBP video card issue and the total runaround
from the Geinerd Bar with apple corporate in complicity, soured me forever
on apple.

The vast amount of free software and support available in the open source /
web world is stunning.

Linux dramatically extends the life of older IT hardware. I have done well
catering to clients who hate throwing money at vendors: I prefer they throw
it at me.

A lot of my stuff has had great longevity / stability in an ever-shifting
IT world.

The things I could do with fully functional oBrowser in Linux / Omnis would
be stunning. I still love coding in Omnis, and to truly merge LAMP and
Omnis would be incredible.

So, I am optimistic. I once worked in the Hewlett-Packard 3000 minicomputer
system environment. It was a viable active platform from the late 70's into
the mid 2000s, when HP killed it in favor of HP-UX. The aftermarket
lingered on for a while and still lives on in manufacturing / industrial /
assembly line environments under virtualization.

Omnis has been viable even beyond this, which is a tribute to the vision of
the original developers. Hopefully there will be 30 year Omnis veterans 20
years from now.
