Hi Rankin,

You will need to supply a bit more detail for us to be able to help you.

Operating System? I guess Windows, but especially if you are using WindowsXP, you will need to be specific about the operating system you are trying to install on.

Which version of Omnis Studio? Here you can right mouse click on the "omnis.exe" file on an existing workstation and look at the properties. One of the tabs will be called "Details", and we will need to know what the version number is that you see there. It could be "4.3.2.1" or another version number.

The application library probably has the ending "*.lbs". You will need to determine where this file is stored. Go to an existing workstation and have a look at the desktop link for starting your app. Right-mouse-click on the application link and choose "Properties". You will see a Path, something similar to the following:

  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tigerlogic\runtime\omnis.exe" "C:\olt\prod\library.lbs"

The "C:\olt\prod\library.lbs" is the path to your library, the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tigerlogic\runtime\omnis.exe" the path to the executable.

The path to your library could also be something like

  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tigerlogic\runtime\omnis.exe" "\\myserver\prod\library.lbs"

In this case the application library is stored on a central file server.

If you post the details above, I am sure we can help. The short version is, take a workstation where the app is installed, write down the information above. Copy the files from the omnis runtime from your source PC to the destination PC, into the same directory. If the Omnis library is installed locally, copy the file from your source PC to the destination PC, copying the directory names. If the application file, in the above example the "library.lbs" is on a file server, then all you will need to ensure is that you have read/write permissions on that server directory. Copy the desktop link from the source PC to the destination PC. You ought to be able to open your app.

Hope this helps a little.

Regards

Rudolf Bargholz

Betreff: Need Help with Omnis Application Install

I have been working with Omnis very little over the past year here at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.
My colleague, Ray Page was the developer here and did all the installs and Omnis maintenance.

Ray passed away 3/10/17.

So I need some help if possible.

I need to install his Omnis runtime Application that he developed for Users here.

If someone could fill in the holes, that would be fabulous.

Here's is all I know about how Ray did an Omnis Install for runtime.

He placed the omnis runtime application file on the Users computer, presumably in a tigerlogic folder.

He also said that omnis had to create the user/appdata folder.

That's about all I have. I know the library has to be placed also. The datafile is on a server.

If someone can take the time to reply with instruction that would be great!

Thank you!
