oBrowser, htmlcontrols, how to upgrade them and create new ones. [WAS Re: Quill and oBrowser]

Hi Andrew,

I have had an interesting conversation with the guys at Omnis and I was told that there exists enough documentation on
1. oBrowser htmlcontrols
2. How to tweak them OR what is required to make them work
3. How to create new htmlcontrols.

I went searching in all the obvious wrong places like 
— Programming Omnis, 
— Extending Omnis, 
— External components documentation, 
— JS component SDK & Docs, and 
— External Components and Java Objects.

All these I searched, high and low only to find out that all there is to know about htmlcontrols and oBrowser exists in the “What’s New in Studio 8.0.3” PDF (p.g. 61-73) http://www.omnis.net/download/manuals/Whatsnew803.pdf . <doh!>

As a matter of fact, all this documentation already exists in “What’s New in Studio 8.0” (P.g. 38 onwards). 

To the question of can we upgrade Quill for fat clients, YES! We can do it on our own.

I’ve already attempted this and I’ve had some success in getting it going, I need to tweak it a bit more to make it all work together though. 

As I’ve mentioned earlier, I’ve asked the engineers at Omnis to please upgrade all their open source components for now and they have taken that under consideration. I am confident that they’ll upgrade these things for their next release.
