Just an hour glass. They're all next to each other in a small office.
Yeah, I've tried copying big files and it's pretty quick.

We have lots of customers using omnis from a shared drive on a local network
without these sort of speed problems. However, it will be very slow if you
try and run it from a shared drive across a WAN.
Are you seeing the Omnis padlock appear or is it just an hour glass?
It might not be a problem with omnis at all. Have you tried copying a large
file across the network to see if that copies at a reasonable speed? It
could be a network problem.

My client has three users on Windows 7 32 bit accessing an OMNIS datafile
with a .df1 extension (Which I believe is fairly old). The file is 67Mb and
is on a Windows share mounted by two of the PCs. All fairly new PCs,
cabling, hub, etc.
The remote users are mounting the file as Z:\datafile.df1, one was
previously mounting it as \\server\directory\datafile.df1 and he was
slowest. Going to Z: seems a bit faster.
The two remote users have very slow performance often taking 30s for a
dialog to acknowledge, it feels to me like some kind of file locking or
"waiting for resource" issue. I've never programmed OMNIS myself and I don't
have any source code.
Previously the remote nodes were on WiFi (no idea why) and took up to five
minutes on some delays! Just cabling them up made a massive difference.
I've tried disabling the anti-virus temporarily (avast) to see if that
helps.
Any thoughts?
