Hi Peter & all,
Nope I never did find a solution to the ODBC connecting to a remote Omnis Classic datafile using php ... ended up using Omnis to populate a local MySQL datafile and let php talk with that ... meant I didn't have live data on-line, but it was a solution to a problem that I couldn't find any other solution for.
I tried moving the datafile to a number of different servers and got the same error every time, it was my impression that it had something to do with the way php was using the Omnis ODBC client. But it worked as it should when on the local drive, and it also worked as it should if I used Excel to access the ODBC client to the remote source.
i'm pleased you found something that worked for you.
Thanks
Jim
