Turn Omnis system read only?

I think as developers, we must differentiate between information and
application. Whereas the information built over the years definitely
belongs to the customer/client, the software application on the other hand
is not; unless they have paid for sole rights.
I normally apply Annual Software License and then an optional AMC (Annual
Maintenance Contract). If the client chooses not have an AMC in place then
they are subjected to Spot Billing whenever my services are required (and
in most cases end up being more costlier than having a AMC in place).
All software I design alert the user when the application license is about
to expire and if I do not receive the fee before expiry, the application
will resort to *Reports Only* mode (since we do agree that information does
belong to client) until such time the client pays up. Indeed this has
clients very disciplined and they pay up on time; always.....
