Omnis on Mac with Parallels Win7 Pro VM (hier menus)

Hi, All,

I'm evaluating a MacBook Pro Retina with Parallels and a Windows 7 Pro VM.  
I have just a few days left to return this Mac if this doesn't work out.  
So I don't have a lot of time to research some of the issues I'm
encountering.
A bit of help would be appreciated.

Here's the config:

MacBook Pro Retina 15"
Parallels 9
Mavericks 10.9.4
Win7 Pro 64-bit
Omnis Studio 5.2.2 (lib installed on both the Mac and Win sides)
MySQL Community Server 5.6.20 (installed on both the Mac and Win sides)

ISSUE 1: Hierarchical menus in Omnis have an unwanted character.  

Is this an Omnis font issue,  a Parallels issue or something else?
