load balancing experience

I built an Olympic website to post immediate scores using the thin client
which we logged about 2000 users at once using the site...on a dual core.
It took some very careful programming but worked well with no complaints.
We are building a website now that will use an 8 core and have 1500
simultaneous users with no problems
We have a thin client retail site on a four core that at one time clocked
10,000 simultaneous users a couple times a day for the first two weeks of
the opening. I was sweating bullets the whole time but had no reports of
malfunctions. Users were from all over the world including the Vatican.
We primarily were using Linux backends but are currently switching over to
windows since the Studio Dev version is no longer available.

Dear list,
trying to set up a system for 3500 simultaniously (at times all highly)

i'm not shure how good omnis 6 is with using several cores.
maybe i should go for load balancing
