setting $debugfile and $debuglevel for mysql dam

Hi folks,

Nowhere in any of the Omnis Studio manuals can I find a code example of specifically how to set $debugfile and $debuglevel. They vaguely discuss setting these values, but provide no examples.  

I am fairly adept with notation but this one has me flummoxed. (Been using Omnis since 1985). Could someone provide a code snippet that works and the context for setting it? When I try to set this I keep getting: 

Problem with notation  $root.$itasks.$cinst.$debugfile.$assign  When evaluating $debugfile.$assign  Unrecognized custom attribute...

I would be extremely grateful for any assistance rendered in this regard. 

Omnis used to have excellent code examples in the documentation, but these days, not so much...
