I have set the tcp_keepalives_idle=0 in the postgresql.config file.
I read that Windows looks different to this setting so i followed the instruction to set it to 0.

I also have set a reconnect code, like Andy.
I found that the bandit is my router. While I still have internet connection, the router (NetGear) closes connection of some ports (unused?).
I work in a Hotel, so "normal" ports, like 80 are used all over by staff and customers (guests), and I guess that the router almost never times-out that web ports.
It seems to be your case, expecially when you say that your customer have this trouble while you don't..
SSL (as far as I know) is not responsible

I also solved sending a SET tcp_keepalives_idle=300 command to the server, just after logging in.
Using PG 9.2 and OmnisStudio 5.2.3
