To echo Lou's comments here - every Linux install of TL's I have ever done requires extensive changing of permissions before it will actually work properly ! They don't make the best of installers.....
Paul Mulroney has been a godsend in writing out how-to's for most of this stuff under Linux and I am sure he will pipe up again regarding permissions for the odb stuff if he has come across it but I would bet large that this is mostly what the issue will be at this point.....
In essence easy to fix, you just need to know exactly what to do :)
I have not used the odb stuff at all so cannot help I am afraid....

You'd really have to sort through the service definition to investigate that.

The hard drive failed on the server so I'm reinstalling with the latest SUSE so any guidance will be truly appreciated. I tried looking at the archives and the internet in general but did not find how to proceed.
