OS 5 + openssl + pop3connect problems

Dear all,
in Omnis Studio 4.3 we used a homegrown java jar to setup an SSL
tunnel to a mailserver. We used POP3Connect to connect to the local
port and mail could successfully be retrieved.
in Omnis Studio 5 this didn't work, so we used the built-in OpenSSL
features of POP3Connect and were able to retrieve the mail on OS X.
However under Windows (XP) I don't succeed in getting this to work:
(1)
- java tunnel is successfully setup
- POP3Connect set to 'localhost:port', 'username', 'password',
'logtofile-method', kFalse, kFalse
- connection to the tunnel returns an error from POP3Connect:
* no OpenSSL installed: error from POP3Connect = cannot load
wesecure.dll. -> no activity in the tunnel
* OpenSSL installed: error from POP3Connect = 'OpenSSL report
'unknown protocol' -> little activity in the tunnel
(2)
- no java tunnel setup
- POP3Connect set to 'localhost:port', 'username', 'password',
'logtofile-method' (default params kFalse, kTrue)
- connection to the tunnel returns an error from POP3Connect:
* no OpenSSL installed: error from POP3Connect = cannot load
wesecure.dll.
* OpenSSL installed: error from POP3Connect = an error from OpenSSL
'tlsv1 alert error'
I've tried various installations of OpenSSL, including the one advised
in the Omnis WhatsNew50.pdf, but all result in the described errors.
Does anyone have further suggestions I could try?
Thanks.
