Prompted Find only takes single characters

Thanks for the hints but neither was the cause. 
Eventually I removed a Redraw Windows in the 
window control and it all went back to working 
nicely. I think somewhere that was causing a 
#AFTER event after typing a single character. 
Strange since it had worked with this code for 
years.
